How to avoid tenancy fraud in London
Nowadays, there are thousands of adverts on the internet featuring rooms to rent, but you must be extremely careful when looking for your ideal accommodation in London. Quite often, swindlers use these online adverts to unlawfully sublet rooms and commit tenancy fraud to their benefit.
In London, most property owners prefer to let Estate Agents manage their rental agreements; These agencies make sure that you are legally renting a property or a room and protect you, as a tenant, against fraud. Bearing this in mind, those known as ‘private landlords’ must be avoided, as they might be committing tenancy fraud by unlawfully subletting rooms. These ‘private landlords’ often disappear with your hope and money when the simplest issue arises.
London Stay UK, as a member of the Federation of Small Businesses and an accredited agency by the Property Redress Scheme, offers you transparency, professionalism and guarantees you peace of mind when it comes to choosing your accommodation in London.
On the check-in day, you will sign your tenancy contract. This document will serve you as proof of residence to apply for your National Insurance Number (NINO), which is a compulsory document you must have in order to start working in the UK. Your NINO will also serve as proof of your arrival date in the UK, before Brexit takes place in March 2019.
